John Tizard, Police and Crime Commissioner Bedfordshire talks about the CEO role
Dear candidate,
Thank you for your interest in becoming the next Chief Executive of Bedfordshire Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC).
This is an exciting opportunity for you to make a difference and improve the safety and wellbeing of the people of Bedfordshire. I am determined to secure change and to maximise impact quickly and will be looking for a chief executive with the same ambition.
You will need to be a visible and inspirational leader, making sure your team have the right environment and operate in the right culture to deliver. Leadership of change and effective leadership of teams will be essential elements for the successful candidate.
As Chief Executive you will be my principal advisor and will lead the OPCC team so that we deliver the Police and Crime Plan and our key objectives to make the county safer and fairer.
The Police and Crime Plan will be in two parts. One will cover the period October 2024 to March 2025, and then there will be a plan for the remaining three years of my current tenure. You will shape the strategic delivery of the plan and its evolution.
The key missions and objectives which underpin the plan are available here. My passions are to secure both criminal and social justice, prevent crime and tackle the causes of both social and economic crime.
This can only be achieved through partnership with other public bodies, including local authorities and our criminal justice partners. As my new Chief Executive, you will need to be able to work in partnership to secure outcomes, and to support the PCC and Deputy PCC to do so.
Therefore, you will be someone who can work proactively with stakeholders and partners, across the landscape of Bedfordshire and beyond.
If you believe that you are the right person to be our new Chief Executive, I look forward to your application – apply here.
